Ford Extends Warranty On Focus Front Springs
May 16, 2003

Ford has extended the front coil spring coverage of 2000 model year Focus models. The new warranty will be valid for 10 years or 150,000 miles from the start of the vehicle's warranty date - whichever comes first. Should the vehicle already have 150,000 miles at the time of publication, the warranty will extend to 31 December 2003.

The warranty extends to vehicles made at Wayne, Michigan from 05 March 99 through 23 December 1999. It will also apply to vehicles built at Hermosillo, Mexico from 21 May 1999 through 30 December 1999.

According to Ford, portions of the front coil springs may not have received adequate corrosion protection during the manufacturing process. Inadequate corrosion protection eventually may lead to a fracture of the spring. A spring fracture may result in suspension noise, possibly accompanied by sagging of one side of the vehicle.
